Joe DeMaeyer Tribute

Joe DeMaeyer was one of the best know cycling enthusiasts across the entire country. Sadly Joe passed away this week after a lengthy illness. Joe had stated during his illness that one of his wishes was to get to the Forest City Velodrome to be at one last track race. Unfortunately his medical condition was such that that was not possible. Joe was a great madison rider in his time. On Sunday, October 22nd Joe will be there in spirit.

The velodrome is organizing a tribute to Joe before the start of the race on that day, Sunday October 22 at 2pm. Joe's family will be in attendance and as part of the tribute his son Leon will be taking Joe's track bike for a final lap around the oval as Joe looks down upon us. We invite all his many friends in the cycling community to attend.

After the presentation we will have day 3 of the six-day with racing that he would be proud to be a part of.
