CBC has been running a "people's choice" vote for Canada's Olympic flag bearer for a while now, beginning with a 16 candidates, 8 men and 8 women.  Each day over the last two weeks, they have pitted two athletes against each other in a bracket-style tournament and asked the public to vote on a winner.

The vote is now down to the final 2, one man and one woman -  Mountain biker Catharine Pendrel vs triathlete Simon Whitfield.

Pendrel has already pulled off three upsets to reach the final, starting as as the lowest women’s seed, to upset the likes of Christine Sinclair, Karen Cockburn and Clara Hughes.

Voting will remain open until 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 3, and we’ll announce the winner on Wednesday, July 4
