Hardwood Ski and Bike will be hosting two NCCP Community Initiation Courses this Spring, plus Introduction to Competition and MTB Skills courses.
NCCP Community Initiation Course (Entry Level MTB instruction)
The Community Initiation Coaching Course is a National Coaching Certified Program (NCCP) for instructors who will primarily work with novice pre-competitive cyclists at the community level. The focus is on FUNdamentals, Learn to Train and Train to Train development stages of the Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD). This course is geared towards volunteers, parents, recreational program administrators and councilors. You will require riding experience to enroll in this course. (14 hours)

Introduction to Competition - Trained Coach (Training Basics 14 hour)
Trained Coach requires this 14 hours of training basics to be completed in order to be considered a “Trained Coach” There are no prerequisite courses for this coaching level, although all participants must be able to demonstrate required skills. This course is geared for new coaches, highschool and university team coaches, and team or club coaches.

Introduction to Competition - Trained Coach (Basic Cycling Skills)
Similar to the skills learned in the CIC course all “Trained Coaches” must complete a 7 hour basic cycling skills component. This component covers obstacles, descending, climbing, cornering, gearing, breaking, drop offs, rooty climbs, bridges, switchbacks and descending with speed.

NCCP Mountain Bike Skills and Tactics (Trained Coach or Race Coach course)
The Skills and Tactics course is a one day 7 hour course to develop the knowledge and practices of coaches with athletes competing in team and individual events.
